Some shark dudeBeen watching a lot of Face Off lately. The SyFy series, not the Nick Cage classic. I’m into movie prosthetics. But I’ve never really had much experience with that. Anyway, I doodled this while watching an episode. Also, this profile is inspired by a guy I met once in LA. He was a soldier buddy of my uncle’s. It was a long time ago, but I still remember thinking he reminded me of a shark. He wasn’t menacing or anything, it was his odd profile.

Cold Cuts (2013)
Last year I got invited to Bloom Arts Festival. Which is a local arts fest dedicated to young contemporary artists. I was pretty ecstatic about it. It felt really validating as an artist to be noticed by the community. Kinda wish I did better tho.
Here’s the story. I set out to paint a triptych about how some of us can trivialise death and dehumanisation. But, I ended up only really finishing one piece because I ran out of time. This was also during the time I was preparing for my Hong Kong trip. Anyway, I hope I get invited to the next one again. Next time, I’ll do something big.Above is the only painting for my triptych that I actually finished. It was hung alone in Bloom, and it spoke about nothing because the piece was seen incomplete. Blegh.
I posted this late because I was feeling to bummed about the whole thing. I’m a bit over it now.
I need to get better at time management, I guess.

Experimenting With Watercolor Brushes

I made a tiny video thing. Mostly to test out screen-recording again. Anyway, I recently bought @kyletwebster's watercolor brushes and I’m in the middle of trying to learn how to use them. So it’s a bit rough and I make a few goofs here and there. Did this sketch in around 20 minutes.

I know how to paint with actual watercolours, but the digital version behaves a tad differently. This’ll take some practice, but I’m always excited and happy to learn so this should be fun.

Also, the line art was drawn using a brush from Kyle Webster’s Runny Inkers Set. I’ve been really enjoying his brushes, and they are quite impressive.

Here’s the thing I doodled below.

Love (2014)
Help me, Obi-Wan. You’re my only hope.
Help make this tee a reality by scoring this on Threadless please. :)Also, you should totally leave a comment if you do. It helps.

Ave Aves {2014}

Koji commissioned me to make the poster for his thesis film. He wanted something that looked like a vintage National Geographic cover. But I like taking free-reign on design so I went and played with the idea instead.

I only worked on this for two days due to my busy schedule and the tight deadline. So it’s a bit rough, but I’m fairly happy with it.

Below the poster are the initial studies I made before I started working on it. It’s an experimental art film that attempts to answer the question of why a bird is like an encyclopedia.

I decided to frame a magnified view of the feathers. I think, without the gold embellishments, one could view the feathers in a different light. Funny how visual elements can influence your perception.

Anyway, you can watch the teaser HERE.

Also, thanks for the job, Koji!

Salvaged Wood {2014}Experimenting with Kyle Webster’s watercolor brushes again. It almost looks like real watercolors! It’s amazing. This brush is great, but I’m still getting used to it.
