Ave Aves {2014}

Koji commissioned me to make the poster for his thesis film. He wanted something that looked like a vintage National Geographic cover. But I like taking free-reign on design so I went and played with the idea instead.

I only worked on this for two days due to my busy schedule and the tight deadline. So it’s a bit rough, but I’m fairly happy with it.

Below the poster are the initial studies I made before I started working on it. It’s an experimental art film that attempts to answer the question of why a bird is like an encyclopedia.

I decided to frame a magnified view of the feathers. I think, without the gold embellishments, one could view the feathers in a different light. Funny how visual elements can influence your perception.

Anyway, you can watch the teaser HERE.

Also, thanks for the job, Koji!

UP CFA Third Year VC Block X invites you to
CUBITAL FOSSA: Peering into the Creative Process

The exhibit explores the narrative of the cyclical nature of an artist’s creative journey. Walk through the artist’s internal processes beginning at the source, delving into introspection and finally emerging at the point of an artwork’s realisation.

UP College of Fine Arts | Saturday 25 February 2012 | Reception: 9 a.m.

A painting of mine is part of this exhibition. I did not sleep just to make this deadline. So please, support sleepless artists. Haha!
Also, go to this! Because art!By the way, we won’t be the only exhibit that day, I’m sure. It’ll be during the college’s Fine Arts fair. So going to UP CFA on that day will not definitely be a waste. Art fairs are fun guys, especially for the “aesthetically inclined” (that is a thing now). UP CFA is still the premier art college in the Philippines. Sure some of the work will be subpar, some will exhibit raw talent, but most definitely you’ll find more than a gem or two and that’s one of the best parts of student exhibitions. Anyway, based on experience, the CFA Art Fair is just one of the best days each year at my college and it’d be nice if you could experience it. :)
Also, bacon. Just saying. Maybe you guys will spread this around if I said bacon. Everyone reblogs bacon. Bacon loves you!
