HatBoy: AnonyGhost

Hey peeps. One of the things keeping me busy is that I recently got commissioned to make silly comics for an international publication. I’m pretty excited about it, actually. Anyway, this is one of the strips they rejected. They made the right decision.

Blegh. But AnonyGhost will soon go through a make-over as I want a better character design for this dude. I’ve always wanted a ghost character so I don’t just want to make this guy a one-strip thing.

I made this comic last year. I forgot to upload it. I thought I’d post it now since I don’t have anything new to post at the moment. Still pretty busy to make anything new really. School is still being a needy little bugger.

Rise and Fall (2012)

It’s The Dark Knight Rises Week! So I thought I might as well post this and because I’ve nothing worth posting except old files. I made this for a Dark Knight shirt competition a while back. If the glow looks weird, it’s because of the halftone. I had to make it silk-screen friendly. Aaawww yissss! Art school know-how!

Anyway, you can click it to embiggen, which I recommend. It’s a 1440x900 png, so you can download it and use it as your desktop wallpaper if you want. Like me. So we can be desktop buddies this week. Can you think of anything cooler?

Yes. Yes you could. But I’ll still be stoked for Batman. FAVORITE SUPER-HERO CHARACTER EVER! Even though I always root for The Joker, because my love for him shines like his glistening pearly-white smile.

I’m like the Incredible Hulk. But instead of bulging into a giant, green anger-beast, I melt down into a blob of depression. Which probably feels worse than being an anger monster and the spell probably feels longer and more unbearable. And instead of being feared, most people would probably just be annoyed with me.

Space Cube and Tomato: Sammich

I’ve been feeling mighty depressed and annoyingly emotional recently. And I thought I might as well just scream out in agony through comics. If that’s alright with you guys…

During my animation class.

It was a 6 hour class filled with confusion and frustration.

So last week was the first week of my 4th year in art college. Also, animation class began. It’s too early to tell whether it sucks or not, but I barely enjoyed my first day. I was pretty annoyed over the fact that the class apparently isn’t going to teach traditional hand-drawn animation or any other technique of animation except 3D animation, like Pixar stuff but on shit computers and on a shit freeware software because the college has no money for industry standard software. I was more so annoyed of the fact that the professor said that the course will be just about 3D animation because presently the animation industry is in great demand for 3D artists. That may be true, but the college is supposed to teach us the arts not try and get us a job. 

Because going to college isn’t really something you go through just to get a job. Or at least it shouldn’t be anyway. Although yes, companies do tend to hire those with degrees, but going to college used to be because people had a thirst for knowledge. You go to college because you have passion for a certain field. And that’s become the main reason why I even bother with staying in school, because I’m severely passionate about art and I want to learn more about it.

Anyway recently, I’ve grown very interested in animation and I wish to pursue it a bit and hopefully make an animated short in the near future. I wanted hand-drawn animation, if it was good enough for a Mr. Walt Disney then it should be good enough for me. But the college has decided it wasn’t worth teaching anymore.

I like 3D animation, sure. But I would rather make hand-drawn animation as I find that its charm is more beautiful and I would love to study it just because I want to. Hand-drawn animation is not dead and it’s still massively beautiful and I think it should be taught at supposedly the premier art school in the country. It’s an art form and a technique. There are many ways to tell stories now. We have the option to choose which form or medium would best suit a story, aesthetically. And just because 3D animation is what’s “in” at the moment, doesn’t mean it will be the only answer for animated storytelling.

Also, Blender sucks massively. Maya forever!

Physical Education Sucks

This will be me tomorrow again. Apparently, I am so out of shape, that I am terribly and pathetically incapable of power walking for 6.5 kilometers in 30 minutes. Bleghh…

Also, my tablet is still broken but my lovely lovely friend, Pam, lent me her awesome Intuos 4. THANKS PAM! Now I can digi-paint again! Temporarily! But now I can post crappy comics again and finally work on my paintings again! AAAAAAAHHH!

Holy cow, Batman! It’s a Robin Re-Design!

This is from a panel of a short comic. It’s from a fan-fic Batman comic I’ve been tasked to make, but with re-designed characters and their profiles have been changed or tweaked. The character designs may be considered drastic, but just consider them as just “inspired” by the Batman comics and isn’t exactly them. But they have the same names and similar personalities. Haha! 

Apologies to the creators and the fans of Batman, though. Haha!
